Oftentimes there are other things going on on pages. It used to be
possible to check the status bar available which would give you the
download percentage (plus other extraneous information, perhaps).

Well, I don't really feel it is necessary. Often it takes mere seconds
for a
webpage to load even on those Wikipedia articles with 1500 links. If
you
press enter on a link, and if you wait long enough, Jaws will inform
you of
the amount of links and related information as well as regions and
such.
Jaws will then begin reading the information on the webpage, which one
can
use to infer that the page has finished loading. Again, all of this
takes
seconds--that is if the webpage doesn't have all kinds of Java and
tons of
other stuff going on. I will add that I don't know your intended uses,
so of
course you will feel differently about this process. <Smile>.

Yes it is helpful for some users, that's the thing that I want to
happen to
my jaws, to speak webpage loading progress. I also ask the same
question to
the list before. I already set my update progress setting to speak all
progress every time there's changes. But this method didn't work both
to my
jaws 14 and to my jaws15 public beta version.

That is what the progress bar up dater is for. you will find it in

It always tells status for me, but if turned off it won't tell a
thing.
