Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 15, Public Beta 3 was released today at 10 AM

If you restarted your JAWS 15 today, after 10 AM Eastern, you should have
alerted to another update of JAWS 15 Public Beta. All is going well and we
are on track for a successful release at the end of the month. For all of
you who have installed the beta builds this year, I wanted to thank you for
your time and effort. The reports filed have been great this year and I'm
confident that we are ready for a successful DVD distribution to thousands
of users around the world in November.

Please feel free to continue submitting the beta forms if you find issues.
We are already working on the first auto update to JAWS 15 so anything we
don't get in the final release this month, will be rolling into the updates.

Below is the list of changes between Beta 2 and Beta 3.

Regards,
Eric

Enhancements in JAWS 15.0.4106 (October 2013)
The following is a list of improvements made between this release and the
JAWS 15.0.3103 posting.
JAWS

  * With the new ability in JAWS 15 to switch between braille displays
without having to restart JAWS, an issue connecting and disconnecting the
BrailleNote Apex over USB for use with JAWS was discovered. Humanware has
resolved this issue in a new driver which is installed with this latest JAWS
update. In addition, the driver for the Brailliant display was updated with
UTF8 support to address reports from Russian users attempting to enter text
from the display.
  * A new Handy Tech driver is now included in JAWS which adds support for
their newest line of braille displays.
  * You can now perform a triple tap with one finger in the Speech
Settings gesture mode to toggle the Touch Cursor on or off. Just like you
can use the mouse without turning on the JAWS Cursor, you can perform
gestures without turning on the Touch Cursor. Enabling the Touch Cursor
allows you to use the keyboard and braille display to navigate objects as
well as display a rectangle around the current Touch Cursor location.
  * The color of the highlight rectangle which is used to visually show
the location of the Touch Cursor is now red to help make it easier to see.
  * Added information to the Gesture List (Four-Finger Double Tap) to
announce the currently active gesture mode and that you can perform a
Two-Finger Rotate to switch modes.
  * When Touch Cursor navigation is set to groups and you move to a group
that is not on the screen, resolved an issue where the highlight rectangle
was not being displayed around the group as it gained focus.
  * More issues submitted using the Error Reporting feature have been
resolved.
Microsoft Excel

  * Resolved a customer reported issue where JAWS was displaying an error
when attempting to open Quick Settings in a worksheet containing an
ampersand symbol in the sheet name.
Microsoft Internet Explorer

  * Addressed a reported issue with table navigation commands not working
as expected in certain types of grids.
  * Addressed an issue in both Internet Explorer and Firefox where JAWS
was not always indicating the beginning or end of an ARIA region.
  * Improved JAWS detection of embedded objects on Web pages.
Microsoft Office

  * Addressed issues where hot keys for various ribbon controls were not
being displayed in braille.
Microsoft Outlook

  * Addressed a reported issue with JAWS sometimes not reading as expected
in the attachments list if it contained more than two attachments.
Microsoft Word

  * When virtual ribbons are enabled, addressed an issue where pressing
ENTER on a split button was not displaying the split button options as
expected.
  * If you set another Speech and Sounds scheme as the default in Word
instead of Word Classic, addressed a customer reported issue where JAWS
would switch back to the Word Classic scheme instead of the new default
scheme if focus was moved away then back to the application.
  * When performing a Find, resolved an issue where pressing ENTER on the
Next Result button in the Navigation pane was not always moving to the next
occurrence unless INSERT+3 was pressed first to activate the pass key
through feature.
Skype

  * Contracted braille can now be used to enter and edit Skype chat
messages.
