Hi Linda, In Office 2007 or 2010, if you just want to read a PowerPoint presentation, once the file is open, press F5. Space bar or page down moves focus to the next slide and page up moves focus to the previous slide. Escape will get out of the mode which F5 placed you into, at which point you can press Alt+F4 to close the program.
