Windows 7 does take a bit more effort to network than the venerable XP ever
did, but it is more secure. In 7 you must set folder permissions and also
decide who gets them. I have done it several times and maybe some fine day
it will become as automatic as in XP. Actually the last time it only took
two tries and I didn't have to consult my own tutorial to do it so guess I
am getting better.

Then there are those times where you do everything correctly and things
still don't work. Don't you just love computers?

Hi Mike,
Definetly, your way works great, but you have to know how to set up the
drive to share.

4 years ago, I had set my self the Jorge Network consisting of two computers
only.
And my access was from one shared folder to the other in My Computer menu.
So, I had to have in the share folder what ever , I wanted to share.
Then, things started crashing and I never bother to set one up again.

Good Night.

Hi Jorge,

No, that's not true. You open the properties of a drive / file / folder &
go to the, Sharing Page, & you can check an option for sharing that
particular drive / file / folder.

Take care.

Hi Mike,
I know that part, but what I ment about the share folder is:
You can only enter through the share folder and view the folders you are
storing there in your 3 computers to view.

Have a good day.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Network Problems

Hi All,

All of the sudden our computers are not seeing each other over our home
network but, they can all access the printer via the same home network.
Each computer only sees its own shared drives / files / folders when opening
My Network Places in XP & Network in Windows7. This started just within the
last few days & we don't have a clue as to why. I checked the IP Address &
Subnet Mask numbers & the same are used for the Firewall configuration
settings. We're running Vipre AntiVirus & Internet Security but, even when
we turned off the firewall we get the same results & it doesn't matter which
version of Jaws is running or not running. This is happening between 2 XP
Pro, 1 XP Home, & 1 Windows7 Pro 64 bit computers. We re-ran the Network
Setup Wizard 3 times but, no go! Can anyone help?! All advice & input will
be graciously accepted & greatly appreciated! Thank you all very much.

Take care.
Mike
