No problem. I'll do that as soon as I stop stuffing my face (smile). I'm
off to a pre-Thanksgiving dinner in a few minutes so the computer will just
have to wait. After all, what's more important than really good food and
plenty of it???

Trish:
Thank you and it has. Your instructions worked a treat. And you are
oh-so-right about the tag line and this situation.
Since you seem to be so knowledgeable, can you tell me which setting
should
be checked or modified in the properties page for JAWS 15. Very few seem
checked and I suspect that isn't the way it should be.
Thanks again.

I hadn't thought of that so that's the next place I'll go and make sure.

one other thing here Linda, make sure and I guess this happens by
default??
check your MS configuration to make sure freedom scientific jaws or
however
that reads is checked on your startup tab page, it's my very first item.
I
guess it automatically checks it's self in this area when installing
it,
but you do have the option to have it not run at startup, maybe that is
for
other screen readers, I haven't ever used any others, so I'm not wise on
this subject, it's all my old brain can handle to keep up with this one
and
how it works, then there's the ios another beast..

I just did exactly that given what you wrote in your first post.
Thanks. We'll see if this helps.

Only one of the boxes you mention is checked. I am assuming you mean
that
I
need to check all the boxes you mention. I've never put JAWS in the
system
tray so that doesn't seem important right now. And thanks for this.

Linda,
did you enter on where it says start jaws...?
then tab to check the boxs that say, automatically start jaws at the
log-on
screen check box, start jaws after log-on for all users checkbox,
start
jaws
for this user combo box and mine is set to "always" then you land on
the
ok
button spacebar it, then you can choose to run jaws from the system's
tray
if you like, I love it personally, but you might not.. it's another
check
box, if you make changes, make sure to tap the ok button for the
changes
to
stick.

I did look at the settings in the BASIC link in the Options menu and
the
start JAWS setting *is* checked but it still doesn't start without
using
the
shortcut page. Any thoughts?

Look under the options / basics sub menu for the automatically start
jaws
check box. I bet one of them is not checked, or that combo box is not
set
correctly. Let me know if you need further help. I am fairly sure
that
is
where the problem will be found.

Thank you. An earlier post suggested going into the properties which
I
was
able to do and from JAWS 15 on the desktop I was able to change the
shortcut
key. Unfortunately, although it is set (that is checked) to come up
on
startup, it still isn't doing that. Oh well, at least the shortcut
key
does
get me there.
Thanks again.

Hi Linda,
I think that while you are on the desk top with JAWS 15
highlighted,
you
hit the application key.
Then up arrow to Properties and hit enter.
Then tab until you hear the cue to set the short cut key.

Could
someone please tell me how to do that? I am using Windows 7.
Thanks.
