I think that will work for a lap top. This is a desktop computer. The
computer itself does not have wireless capabilities. That is controlled by
my router.

Rick I think part of the problem is that it was previously set up for a
macbook. Thinking about it last night I did not get the register the product
screen. The wireless connection was made however instead of printing it
launched openbook. I wonder if there is any way to put the printer back to
total factory default as if it is a new machine.

Hi Lenny,
Just to make sure I understand, this is a wireless printer?
If so, you will need to establish a wireless connection between the printer
and your modem or router.
If you have the software disk for that printer, run it, and it should make
the connection for you.
You should be able to access the setup wizard with Jaws, but keep in mind
that if this is a wireless connection, if the printer drops the connection
for some reason,
you will need to run the setup again, or get sighted assistance with the
display on the printer.
If you choose the correct settings as the wizard prompts you, then you should
be able to access the printer from any computer on the network.
If your friend doesn't have the disk, then go to the manufacturer's website,
and download the software.
HTH,
Rick Justice

In a middle of my grandson’s last minute homework assignment my printer bit
the dust. A friend gave me her hp c4700 that was used on a mac computer. the
computer is wireless. Trying to set it up for wireless to be used on my home
network we had a lot of problems. It wanted a mac address and instructed to
print a test page to find the number. We could not print. We told the set up
just to ignore and continue. Now when we tried to print it did not print but
launched openbook. I then again inserted the usb cable and it did link the
computer to the printer but other computers on the network can not access
the printer.
At least we were able to print the information that he needed. Really would
like it to be wireless. Any suggestions? Happy New Year to all, I sure hope
that 2014 is kinder than 2013 is ending :-)
