Obviously, you are just going to convert the audio. Try DVD Audio Extractor
from
www.dvdae.com, it has a thirty-day trial.
I used to use a program that was free Freemake DVD Converter, but I don't
know if it is still available or not. I don't like the fact that it
installs an optional toolbar and changes your homepage.

does anyone know of a video converter which is freeware? that works well

I’m particularly trying to convert non encrypted dvds to wav, mpeg or
some other movie format.
I tried format factory and it is very easy to use but I’m not sure if its
converting my dvd, because I select my dvd put it into format factory by
the send command from the context menu. I select the output format I want
configure my output folder, start conversion and like 5 hours later all I
get in my output folder is a temp file and I’m trying to convert a hour
movie!
