What you can try is...
Select and copy the link to the clipboard.
Go to your desk top.
Make sure nothing is selected on the desk top. If something is, do a control spacebar to unselect.
Press shift f10 which is the same as pressing your applications key.
Arrow up to, new and press enter.
Arrow down to, shortcut and press enter.
Paste the link from the clipboard into the edit field and tab to next.
Type in the name of the shortcut in the next edit field and tab to finish.
