Ecleaner was the program that I use to use. I do not remember why I switched.

Lenny, what is ecleaner and email stripper? Two different things I assume.
Is it any more efficient than what I've been doing? Thanks for any more
info. It doesn't happen often, but when you get things with those pesky
greater signs and stuff like that, they need to go. Judy & Tallie

I just tested email stripper again. I sent an email to myself with a lot of
greater signs. I then did a forward and it had the addresses and greater
signs.
Launched email stripper
Copied the entire forward text including old addresses. Pasted the message
into email stripper
clicked on the strip it button
copied the text to clipboard
Back to the forward email
Deleted the entire message
pasted in the new copied stripped message
All of the old addresses and greater signs were removed. This is what I
ended up with:
test
