I'm installing Win7 and Office 2010 on a new computer (did not buy one
with software loaded out of the box) for the second time. The first
time, my system blue screen crashed immediately on downloading Windows
Updates. My tekkie here in Brazil changed the memory chips, ran the
system for awhile and I was good to go-until I began downloading Windows
updates. I want to rule out Windows updates as an issue for me. What
is the proper procedure and timing for the first batch of Windows
updates to get my system up to date. Any suggestions on handling future
updates? I prefer to look at them before downloading and installing and
I've learned just enough to be dangerous (like one Windows update will
cause program crashes if a prerequisite update is not system-extant).
