Have you ever heard of a program called Kill Disk? It will supposedly do the
job, and it is a free utility. Search it on the net if you want, guaranteed
to remove everything.

Yes, it's called Drive Wiper & will wipe the empty spaces on the OS drive in
use & will completely wipe a drive if it's a non OS drive if you choose to
do so.

afterwards
since it will completely wipe the drive of all its directory structure

use Darik's Boot and Nuke before doing a full format. You will need
sighted
help to get dBAN started but doing so will completely wipe the HD. a
format
simply prepares the HD for software.
