I would like to add the following to the conversation, prior to
creating a windows 7 password windows went directly to the desktop.
After I created a password of course I had to enter that information.
However, I needed to take my PC in for a tech to look at so I deleted my
password. Now, while I have not put back my passwor I still have to hit
the enter key to go to the desktop. I'm not sure if I'm able to change
this behavior.

Open up the search box and type password. You will find what you want just

A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved from
a simpler system that worked perfectly.
