I'd like to add that one of the advantages of using the latest version of JAWS
is that, besides the addition of new features, lots of various bugs are fixed
throughout the year, from the time the version is first released until the next
version. FS typically releases minor maintenance releases around once a month
or so, more or less, and all of these updates fix lots of little bugs which
could impact accessibility or performance. Therefore, while you could get away
with using version 12 on a Windows 7 machine, the chances are that version 16
may have some bug fixes that could make the whole experience a tad bit smoother.

Hi

I also would recommend JAWS 16, especially if you're planning to use it with
Windows 8 or 8.1. JAWS 16 should be made generally available in 2 to 3
months. So when JAWS 16 is generally available, that will be the only
version you can upgrade your license(s) to. A JAWS 16 license will allow
you to run JAWS 16 and/or any earlier version. Many earlier versions of
JAWS can be downloaded from the Freedom Scientific web site. If you upgrade
your license(s) before JAWS 16 is generally available, you will be able to
upgrade to JAWS 15. But I would check with your dealer, or Freedom
Scientific, as I believe that in the past, if you upgraded to the current
version of JAWWS within x numbers of days before a new version is released,
you were eligible for that new version. As for future upgrades, you would
need to purchase a JAWS Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA) to be able to
run the next two versions of JAWS after the highest version you can run with
your upgraded license(s).

Hey listers, our library is planning to purchase jaws's new version after
upgradation from xp to win 7, since jaws 11 doesn't seem to be very
accessible with web pages there in. Which version do u suggest of jaws which
could work with win 8 also if we planned to further upgrade. And also tell
us how many updates can we get if we purchase jaws 15 now?
