Not true. Many web sites no longer recognize versions of Internet Explorer older than IE 9, and will tell you to upgrade to a newer version, which, of course, is not possible under XP. Fortunately, recent versions of Firefox are able to access such problematic sites without difficulty. I am still using XP myself, and now whenever I visit a site that no longer recognizes IE 8, like CVS.com or Target.com, I access it with Firefox 29 instead, and have no trouble. Phooey on all the doomsayers who told us to ditch our XP systems! LOL!

Which browser and version are you running. If you are running IE version
7, you will need to update. With XP you can update to version 8, but no
further. Version 8 should be okay, but that is one of many reasons why
those who use XP really need to upgrade.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [JAWS-Users] Can't get into my google gmail etc.

Hello friends,
I attempted to log in to my gmail account this morning, and found that
my alternate e-mail address (the one from which this message comes)
instead of my gmail account.

They're saying I need an updated browser (I run Win XP SP3/JAWS 12), but
I can't afford to buy a new PC right now, and I'm stuck with XP for at
least awhile. Any ideas? JAWS isn't playing nice with many websites
these days, but I'm wondering if it's the O.S. and not JAWS. Thanks for
any feedback. - Paul For answers to frequently asked questions about
