I normally just do CTRL shift home, to select from the current location to
the top, but Dennies solution does work, at least for me.
Where is your cursor located when you perform the shift home command. I
placed mine after the period of a sentence, then did shift home and verified
the text selection and it worked.
When the cursor is placed on a blank spot, it did not work.

Hi David,
Your steps don't seem to work here,
I practice a couple times after selecting to copy and it pasted nothing.
Using wind7 & J14 + 2013.
It sounded interesting, maybe Judy & Tally got it to work.

Hi Judy & Tallie,
to select roughly half the files in a folder:
1. select a file roughly half way down the list of files.
2. press shift + home. This selects all the files from the originally
selected file to the first file. (alternatively use shift + end to select
all the files from he originally selected file to the last file.)

David.

Hi, list, At work we download tons of books from BARD and have folders
broken down by db numbers on a network drive. One of these folders has
gotten too large; it takes me too long to locate a certain book. I want to
make two folders instead of one and have half the files in each folder.
Again these are files on a network drive. Is there a relatively painless way
to select a large number of files and move them into a new folder? To do it
a couple at a time would take forever. Thanks in advance. Judy & Tallie
