Nothing outside your network will be able to enter, conversely nothing from
your local system will get out either.

This is total lock down.

Hi David,

I missed this part before making the suggested changes:

This will completely disable your Windows XP computer from going on the
internet while allowing it to function locally without a hitch!

I then wondered why the hell I could not get on the Internet & why Dropbox
would not connect! I then went back & re-read your post, & told myself,
well, no S**T, no wonder the internet doesn't work, you dumb A**, speaking
of myself of course! LOL, hahaha hahaha hahaha, LOL Take care.

I believe some of you have seen this in the past where others may not have.
Never the less it is good to refresh our collective memories.

Once virus programs stop working on XP it will become even more dangerous to
go online with such a system. Certainly IE is not receiving much in the way
of patches and as we know Windows is not updating those systems at all any
more unless you're doing something slightly under the table so to speak.

I also know that many people have XP systems that still work perfectly, I do
have one myself that I use for music playing over my own wireless network.

So the point of this email is to offer a suggestion to keep your system
safe. This will completely disable your Windows XP computer from going on
the internet while allowing it to function locally without a hitch for the
lack of a better term.

Open IE.
Go to Tools/Internet Options.
Click on Connections.
Click the LAN settings button.
Next check the "Use a proxy server ." box.
Enter 127.0.0.1 in the edit field.
Check the "Bypass proxy server for local addresses" box.
Then click OK until you exit the menu.

I'm going to post this article on the server soon as I find a place where it
will be easy for folks to locate, safe computing to everybody.
