Hello Kerry,

You should first move the cursor to the first cell of the region to which
you want to apply a title.  When you add a name Excel looks for Title,
ColumnTitle or RowTitle a the first part of the name.  ColumnTitle or
RowTitle tell Excel to only add titles to the column or row.  There are a
few rules to follow when you define a name in Excel for a region.  There can
be no spaces in the name box, the string of text must start with Title,
ColumnTitle or RowTitle, and you must designate a range for the region.  In
order for JAWS to read a title correctly in the naming box you should
capitalize each word.  After typing the title you can designate the first
cell by typing a period followed by the cell address.  You can then type a
period followed by the cell's address where the range ends.  If you have
moved to the first cell in the range you can ignore the period and
designation of the first cell and instead use two periods followed by the
last cell's address in the affected range.  Remember you cannot use any
spacing.  

Let's say you have two regions and each one has different column titles you
want to hear.  For example, in A3 you might have the term Quarter1.  In B3
you might have January, In C3 February and in D3 March.  Furthermore if you
have data relevant to this region through row 12 then you want the range to
end in D12.  In this example, the starting point is A3 and the ending point
is d12.  Start by moving to A3.  In A3 press Alt followed by M followed by N
to launch the Define Name dialog box.  Use Alt+N in this box to activate the
New button.  In Excel 2013 the Define Name can be launched from the
contextual menu using the application key but I am not sure about in Excel
2010.  Here is what you would type in the new name edit box:

TitleQuarter1..d12
Use the OK button and then the Close button to exit the dialog box.  

In this example you don't have to include A3 in the name because you are
starting in that cell.  Otherwise you would type:  TitleQuarter1.a3.d12

If your quarter 2 starts in A13 and April, May and June are in B13, C13 and
D13, and if your data for the quarter ends in D20 then you can move to A13.
Use Alt followed by M followed by N and when in the dialog box use Alt+N to
activate the New button.  and type in:
TitleQuarter2..d20   

When you arrow across the cells that were included in the range you
specified you should hear the column titles.  The word "Title" will not be
included in what you hear as it is just to let Excel know that you are
naming a region and designating the range.  

If you have other sheets in the same workbook you have to use different
names.  In other words if you use TitleQuarter1 in one worksheet you need to
use a different name in another worksheet in the same workbook.

Hi List,

I'm using jfw 15 on my windows 8 machine with Excel 2010.
Either I'm extremely obtuse or something is wrong with my settings.
Can anyone guide me through how to set multi region title reading in a
spreadsheet?
