The hardest of the Microsoft big three to clean up seems to be Access. As we
use to say, "WYSIWYG." The suggestions presented here do a nice job of
cleaning up the Excel and Word interfaces, saving time and aggravation. Access
has always required one or two extra steps anyway.

The backstage view should be called the front and center view, because that is
what it is if you don't disable it, front and center everytime you open a new
word document. This goes for Excel as well. Then, it is a real headache to find
a simple blank document, so that you can start from scratch.
Personally, I don't need nor want all of those useless templates.

What is the back stage view anyway? It sounds just like another ribbon to me.
Am I wrong? Why is it called back stage view? Does anyone know?LeDon.

Hello,

1. Use Alt+F followed by Alt+T to go into Word options.
2. Press S to move to the Save category.
3. Tab to the checkbox "don't show the backstage when opening or saving files"
and press spacebar to check it.
4. Tab to OK and use spacebar.

If you also don't want the backstage opening when you open word do the
following:

1. Press Alt+F followed by Alt+T to go into Word options.
2. The first category is general. Tab across the options in this category.
When you get to the "Show the start screen when this application starts"
checkbox use spacebar to uncheck it if it is checked.
3. Tab to OK and press spacebar.
4. Close Word and open it again to make sure your options stayed as you set
them. If not then you might try restarting your system.

Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Backstage view in Word 2013

Hi,

In Word 2013 I press control+o to open a document. What comes up for me is
what Jaws announces is "backstage view". When I start tabbing around it I find
options to open unsaved files, recent documents (which end up being a mighty
long list as I try to tab through it) and some other stuff.
Sometimes I find a button labeled "browse" and can proceed to a list of folders
in My Documents.

What I would like to do is have My Documents be open when I press the
control+O key, just like it was in Word 2003 and 2007. Can someone
control+please
help?

Thanks.
