I’m currently defaulting to running Jaws 15. Jaws 16 does not read hidden text in Word, so I use 15. Hidden text is essential to my contract work. I did report the issue to FS Support in December.
So, now with the most recent update of Jaws 16, I decided to give it a go and see if the problem was fixed. It’s not. In the process of installing the update, though, I was left with a system where first letter navigation did not work on the Desk Top, the Window 8 Search was broken, and messages in WLM were not showing as un read or read. I also noticed that although I converted my license to the Standard version, Jaws still announced itself as Jaws Professional after the update. There were likely other problems as well, but I didn’t look further. I had to use Narrator to get to the Control Panel and run a system restore to undo the update. Then I went back to Jaws 15.
