Hi Prateek,

This tip I posted worked for me as well as many others or, I wouldn't have
posted it but, it's possible you need to make another change in,
about:config. Here's the info below:

Hello!

Perhaps you should change this value from "true" to "false" in about config
page:

layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled

I use Firefox 34.0 with JAWS 15.0.12085 and the JAWS cursor works quite
well.

Harri

This is also a change I've used as well. HTH
Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Can't use JAWS cursor: Firefox hardware accelerator
uncheck and the GFX &layer about: config do not solve problem

Hardware accelerator is already unchecked in Firefox and it made no
difference. Would folks pl try the potential solution on their PC prior to
posting it here. And thanks so much in advance. Ss

Subject: JAWS cursor still not reading anything on a web page in Firefox
after the about: config changes

Hello there. I made the changes as recommended by Angela with the GFX and
layer setting to true as she suggests below. The only thing changed is the
JAWS cursor now just reads the top title bar of the web page saying the name
of that web page (for example BBC or whatever) and then saying the browser
name 'Mozilla Firefox'.
So my problem remains. I'd like to not only peruse the whole page on the
screen with the JAWS cursor but also be able to then click on buttons and
links on the page using the jaws cursor just like you can do with the
default Internet Explorer configuration.
Any further solutions please?
Thx much
Prateek

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS cursor not reading anything in Firefox

Hi,
This is also for tb.

Firefox and Thunderbird both use Direct2D rendering by default. This
prevents the JAWS cursor from detecting information.
Fortunately it is easy to disable this rendering. You need to do it
once for each version of Firefox and Thunderbird you use on your
system. To do
this you need to set two configuration variables to true:
gfx.direct2d.disabled, and layers.acceleration.disabled.

1. Open the Configuration Editor. In Firefox, enter about:config in the
address bar. In Thunderbird, go to the Tools menu and navigate to
Options,
Advanced, General, then Config Editor.

2. Once in the Configuration editor, press TAB until you are in the list
of options.

3. Pressing UP or DOWN ARROW will move you between options or typing the
first few letters of an option's name will move you to a specific
option
in the list. In this case, type gfx and press DOWN ARROW to
gfx.direct2d.disabled.

4. Assuming the option is set to false, press the APPLICATIONS KEY to
open the context menu and choose Toggle. This will change the
option to true.

5. Go through the same process for layers.acceleration.disabled.

6. Close the Configuration Editor and restart Firefox or Thunderbird.
The JAWS cursor should now show content.
Hth.
