Hi Anna,

The Notification Area Icons are simply like the system tray where the status of whatever you have set to appear there shows up. You can press enter on any of the items and do different things like raise or lower the computer volume, check your WyFy connection and/or switch to another network. check the status of your antivirus software and quickly open the program and start a scan, and it may tell you that the Action Center in control panel is reporting a problem or two with your computer, and pressing enter on this will open up the Action Center so that you may address these problems. The last item on the list is usually a customize button which you can open to add or remove items from the list. You can also access the Notification Area by pressing the tab key 3 times from the desktop, and then pressing the space bar. I hope this explains it a little for you.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] notification chevron button

I have been using windows 8.1 for a while and I still do not know what
the notification chevron button is used for.
could some one please tell me what it is used for and how would I go
about using it?
because every time I try to use it I get no where. I know to get to it
you press windows key and the letter b and then you activate it by
pressing the space bar and then move the arrow keys to select what you
want but what do you do next?
thanks in advance
