Hi, you didn't mention what OS you would be using or anything but windows
movie maker would be an option. It's not the best but it is free, fairly
easy and intuitive to use. From personal experience I find the one in
windows 8.1 some what better. You can drag and drop or import your photos
into the project, arrange and/or mix and match them, set the length of time
for each photo to stay in view, add enhancements, etc. Same with the audio,
or I believe you can actually use the movie maker itself to narrate the
audio directly after you have your slide show together the way you want it.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] how to make a slide show

My grandson has another strange French homework assignment.
He has to get some pictures and narrate the slide show.
Now for the verbal parts I think that I can have him use my Olympus recorder
and gold wave for that part.
I have no idea how to help him make the slide show production and add the
narration. He has to have it on a dvd or flash player to take back in
school. All help appreciated.
