in the control panel, go to programs and features, then view installed updates, find and uninstall KB3035583.
reboot to complete the uninstall.
now launch Internet Explorer.
press alt+t, then u to launch Windows Update, and tab to and activate "check for updates". after some time, you should get a link for "optional" updates, shift+tab to and activate the "critical" link.
you should now hear bla bla bla (KB3035583).
press the applications key or right click and choose "hide" with the up or down arrow key, and press enter. tab over to and activate the ok button, and that's it. no more icon in the system tray.

I sure hope windows 10 does not down load automatically like windows 8.1
did and left me no choice but to finish down loading it.
if it should happen you can be sure I will be contacting micro soft and
complaining.
but any ideas on how I can get it out of my system tray and from my
computer?
