Guessing here, but I'd think that parent and sibling refer to object hierarchy so that sibling is an object on the same level. Fir instance, if you were focused on a list object, each item of the list would be a sibling, whereas the list as a whole would be the parent. This is like the object model in NVDA and I believe VoiceOver for the mac.
