Imap indeed has this terribly annoying delay when deleting or moving messages to other folders. Pop3 and exchange thankfully do not. Regarding the unwanted threads, I used to be able to invoke the control+delete key and that would get rid of everything nicely in Outlook 2003, but it's really flaky in Outlook 2010. All that control+shift+f seems rather tedious. Now, I just copy the subject line that I don't care for, do a control+e to bring up the search box, paste the text and press enter. All the messages with that subject text will then show up in the listview and then I can just select everything and delete at once.

Is there also a lag if an Outlook.com email account is used in Outlook 2010 with IMAP settings?
