Imap indeed has this terribly annoying delay when deleting or moving
messages to other folders. Pop3 and exchange thankfully do not.
Regarding the unwanted threads, I used to be able to invoke the
control+delete key and that would get rid of everything nicely in Outlook
2003, but it's really flaky in Outlook 2010. All that control+shift+f seems
rather tedious. Now, I just copy the subject line that I don't care for, do
a control+e to bring up the search box, paste the text and press enter. All
the messages with that subject text will then show up in the listview and
then I can just select everything and delete at once.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Delay in Outlook 2010 with Gmail and IMAP

Hi All,

I recently switched my main email account in Outlook 2010 from POP to IMAP
and am regretting it already. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the
lag when deleting individual messages. Additionally, I have Outlook filters
that send messages to the appropriate folders and I commonly use the
Control+Shift+F command to locate subject threads I do not care to read and
use the Advance Find dialog to select and delete all messages of a certain
thread in one fell swoop. However, since switching to IMAP, I cannot select
all in the Advance Find dialog and delete the messages. What I am doing
instead is locating the messages using the Advance Find, selecting all found
messages, and then using the Move to Folder dialog to move the messages to
Trash. Back to my main concern, is anyone else experiencing delays in
deleting when using a Gmail account in Outlook 2010 with IMAP settings? Is
there also a lag if an Outlook.com email account is used in Outlook 2010
with IMAP settings?

Thanks,

Mauricio
