Some people continue trying to cross post which the server normally catches
and holds for moderation. Meaning one of us has to manually discard the
message.

I would think by now that it should have occurred to you folks who are doing
this that your messages are not making it to the list because something is
not quite right.

FYI if you receive a message telling you that you have been removed from the
list it is either because you unsubscribed yourself, or your account has
bounced so many messages that the server has removed you as it is set to do
after a given period of time. Lastly it could be because you have posted off
topic messages and rather than writing a long message like I am doing right
now one of us simply removes your email address. None of these reasons will
prevent you from subscribing again, our hope is that if you do you might
just take a couple of seconds to read the guidelines more carefully.

The thing is this list is far too huge for light moderation. Think about it
for a moment, if just one person posts something off topic and only 5% of
the membership reply for whatever reason, then at least 30 emails will land
in our respective inboxes. I hope you understand we are not trying to be
hard cases, it's just the bigger the list the tighter we have to watch it.

a simpler system that worked perfectly.
