No using place markers, to do that you need to create a temporary place marker. To create a temporary place marker press control+window Key+K. Jaws will say temporary place marker set, then go to the part in the text where you want to stop selecting, and press insert+space bar, then press M. Jaws will say something like selecting between marked place and current position, then you can do what ever you want with the text selected.
