Hi Leonard, The Control + E, keystroke activates the search box in the Jaws Quick Settings Window, or is passed thru to the current application where it applies. For example: in Windows Explorer, that keystroke will open the Windows search box, and in Outlook Express it will open the find people dialogue. The keystroke "Jaws key + 1 on the number row" is a toggle, and will turn keyboard help on/off. Using keyboard help is a great way to identify keystroke functions, and pressing the desired keystroke twice quickly will give more information on that keystroke. If you did a repair on Jaws, or re-installed it, and you kept the user settings, I suspect that is where the problem lies. Whenever you have a problem with Jaws in a particular application, the first thing I would do is go to the Jaws application window, and open the "Manage Applications" dialogue, and disable any user settings for the problem application. Upon rebooting the only thing that was changed was I had to fix the shortcut key to start jaws and the logon information under the basic option. Again, the activate searchbox keystroke still wasn't fixed. I'm at least happy that the lack of the keystroke does not seem to interfere with my work.
