Ed,

I am thinking that it has something to do with the document itself, be it where it originated from, or exactly which PDF program was used to produce it or whatever. However, not all PDF's will open in the AV page view, some will open normally, or at least this is what I am experiencing. Are you using Adobe Reader DC? It is the latest version of the reader, and works well. If I can find out anything further on this subject, I will let you know what it is to see if it helps you to read the PDF's.

Hi Ed,

You are right, JAWS will not read a PDF in AV page view, and I am not sure
what that means, but here's what you can do to read the document. You have
possibly 2 choices: 1. If you have Open Book installed on your computer, you
can print the document to the Freedom Export Printer, which you select where
you normally select the printer that you want to print to, and when you hit
the Print button, it will open Open Book, and display the document to you.

2. You can simply use the Control + A command to select all, and then copy
the unseen text and paste it into a blank text or word document. When you
paste the text, it will suddenly appear, and be readable by JAWS. Hope this
helps.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Cannot get pdf file to read

Hi Group,

In the past I have been able to get pdf files to read that I always read.
But now when I open the pdf file it says something like A B page view or A D
page view. I cannot tell for sure which one it is saying. So I am guessing
that somehow something got changed as I have never heard this before. I can
open the pdf files on my other pc and read them just fine. I am using the
latest Jaws and W7 on both pc's.

Any idea what jaws is saying about the view and what can I do to fix it?

Ed
