Hi Carolyn from Ron Kolesar and current Leader Dog Boz. What I'd like to see in jaws especially for reading money is this. Currently what is nice if you have a dollar amount it will read it as example. $55. Example two. If you also have something like $3.25 It only reads as three point two five. Instead of reading $23.25. Example threee I also would like to see the following. For just something smaller than a full dollar. We currently have to use the following format. $0.25 And it read zero point two five. I'd like to see twienty-five cents. Wouldn't you? It is something to think about. Ron and Leader Dog Boz who's kind of semi retired and not fully retired just yet. -----Original Message----- From: Carolyn Arnold Sent: Saturday, August 22, 2015 12:59 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS Pronunciation of Monetary Amounts Text settings is where to go to gew that. If you have problem, write again. I'll go through it, then tell you, but I know it is in Text Settings, which probably is in Configuration Manager. Otherwise, you might go into JAWS and search for Text Settings. I don't know why, for the life of me, that speak dollar after digits is not a default. I guess it makes sense to somebody, especially, since the thing has that capability. I could understand if they had not developed that yet, but for ten years, I've had to set one, if I get a new update or something that makes me lose settings. For instance $86.75 was announced by JAWS as “Eighty six dollars and seventy five cents”. But on my refurbed Windows 7 machine running JAWS 15, this amount is announced as “Dollar eighty six point seven five”. How can I adjust JAWS 15 to announce monetary amounts in the latter format rather than as a string of characters? I could not find anysettings in the Settings Center to accomplish this. Thanks.
