Hi Neil, By putting a shortcut to the Downloads folder on the desktop, you only put a shortcut to the default downloads folder, you did not put a Downloads folder on the desktop. So, when you press enter on that Downloads folder desktop shortcut it will take you to the default Downloads folder. Here is the file path for the default Download folder:
"C:\Users\YourName\Downloads" If you want your downloads to go to a downloads folder on the desktop, you need to create a Downloads folder on the desktop then, assign the downloads to go there from IE. Below are the steps: From: "Mike O'Brien" <[email protected]> Hi While in Internet Explorer, press control+j to open view downloads. Then tab until you hear options and press enter. Then tab to the browse button and press enter. Hear you can type the path to the folder you want, or Shift + Tab, a couple of times to the Tree View, and browse through the folder list or tree view. When you've entered or found the folder you want, press enter. Mike O'Brien Take care. I am helping someone set up a windows 7 computer, which will be converted to a Windows 10. I put a short cut for downloads on the desktop. However, I do not know how to direct downloads to that folder. I downloaded something, which went to the desktop, instead of the downloads folder. What are the steps to direct downloads to the downloads folder? Am sure many of you know the steps. Thanks.
