Try alt g to activate the slide and alt N to insert.

Yes, tried that.
That was the first thing actually that I tried.
I have not used pp 2013.
2010 was much better lol.

Have you tried F5? In PowerPoint 2010, F5 would allow the presentation to be
read, Spacebar or Page Down would move to the next slide, Page Up would move
to the previous slide, and Escape would exit the presentation.

I generally know how to disable the protected view; however, when I open up
the power point document, pressing alt f does nothing.

I have a few power power points to read but it just says protected view. How
can I read them?
