Something I didn't say in my last post regarding this topic is, the
controlling computer person starts Notepad on the target computer so both
the controller & target person can interact with the Notepad open file. For
example, the controler will type into the open Notepad / TXT file something
like, I'm now goingto open your email client so, please do not touch the
keyboard. If you hear & understand what I'm saying, plese press enter a
couple of times at the end of this sentence & type your response. I will in
response press enter at the end of your reply, & tell you I've received your
reply. At this point I'm going to delete the text in the open TXT file so
this file doesn't get too large.

Now, with all that above crap having been said, you can see how
communicating through an open TXT file can get cumbersome & time consuming,
but yet be done! LOL LOL

This is why, if & when possible, having both the controller & target people
communicating via the telephone during a Tandem session will make using
Tandem a whole lot more productive & less time consuming.
Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Tandem Communication Via Notepad

If I'm not mistaken, you can also have a running dialog using Notepad if
started through the Run dialog by the controlling computer. I'm almost
positive that at 1 time David Ferrin or Rick Justice & I were doing a Tandem
session, with either of them being the controlling computer, & we used
Notepad to communicate back & forth with 1 another. We were on the phone
with each other, but I think we were playing around to see if this Notepad
back & forth communication would work. Personally, whenever I've done a
Tandem session with someone both parties are always using telephone contact
just so the controlling computer person can explain to the target computer
person exactly what the controller is doing, so the target computer / person
doesn't freak out hearing a bunch of computer lingo that they might not be
used to hearing or understanding what's happening. As far as the Notepad
communication, hopefully Señor Ferrin or Señor Justice will chime in to
confirm what I'm saying about how it might work or, to say I'm full of
.....LOL

Take care.
