[JAWS-Users] HD mysteriously accessed

my computer boots from a solid state drive and has a platter hard drive 
for storing stuff, and occasionally the platter HD revs up. I also 
notice it revs up whenever I use the safely remove utility in the 
systray to remove an external USB HD. is this normal behavior? is there 
a way I can find out what is causing this?
