Hi Bob,

Here are some other ways to disable function keys with Lenovo laptops:

Press and hold and the Fn key for about 20 to 30 seconds. There would be a
menu that pops up that asks whether you want to switch back to legacy mode.
Just select the legacy option and you would be back to the old keyboard
F1-F12 function that you always wanted.

You can disable fn key settings as given below:

1) Go to control panel

2) Open keyboard properties

3) Go to on tab "Thinkpad F1-F12 Keys"

4) Select now on legacy option

5) Click on Apply and Ok.

6) Now your laptop function keys will work as you are expecting

Really, no one has mentioned going into the bios and choosing legacy fn
mode? I too thought this was easy, but why use software for keys that
function
at the lowest hardware level?

Then go into your BIOS menu, under config, keyboard, there is an option for
Fn to have the legacy mode.
Regards,

Take care.
Mike

Hi All, I have a Lenovo B50-80 and need to change the function keys so that
I do not have to use the F/N key. I have only found ways to do this by going
into the BIOS. And I am thinking that someone gave directions on how to do
this without going that route. If anyone could push me in that direction I
would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Bob
