Mike, Once you are on the Manage Quarantine button you can tap the spacebar and you will be in the place where you can manage exceptions in Quarantine. You will find your touch cursor to be helpful again here. If you have nothing in Quarantine right now you will only see headers but no actions to perform. This may not be totally helpful but it is about the best we got for the present. I used this method to make an exception once when Vipre was zapping an exe file off of a thumb drive before I could install it.

I'll be setting up a new computer & I know of a couple of programs that Vipre will possibly flag, so if this happens I want to be able to tell Vipre to always allow these items after they've been quarantined. 1 thing I haven't tried with this new version is to tell Vipre to exclude the installer / executable before I click on it to install these programs that I think Vipre will flag. Have you tried this? Take care. Mike Remember folks, it's tax time! If you add, IRS to the word, the, you get "T H E I R S". I believe I came across the schedule scan option but did not make note of it. I just tabbed around making sure I think vipre navigation is checked , arrowing down then tabbing. you need to play around like that. -----Original Message----- From: Mike B Sent: Sunday, April 10, 2016 9:16 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Vipre 2016 & JAWS Hi Kevin, If you're hearing that Vipre has just started a scan, that is because you installed it & forgot about it! Well, I like to have a little more knowledge & control about what Vipre might find as Malware or whatever else, & I don't want little programs quarantined / removed that I use on a regular basis being quarantined / removed without me knowing about it. &, if they are quarantined, I would like to know how to tell Vipre to allow them. I can navigate Vipre 2016, okay, but I just can't quite wrap my head around setting up a scheduled scan , or getting quarantined items out of quarantine. I know we all have different ways of operating our own computers, but please don't tell me I should just use the default settings because you are doing that. Take care. I think vipre sets one up for you, because every now and then jaws will announce vipre has started a scan, we're just letting you know vipre is protecting you! so you really don't need to change settings, I just installed mine and forgot it. in other words vipre has become a install it and forget it. -----Original Message----- From: Mike B Sent: Sunday, April 10, 2016 12:14 PM To: Jaws-Users List Subject: [JAWS-Users] Vipre 2016 & JAWS Hi JAWS & Fellow Vipre Users, I just updated to the 2016 version a week or so ago, & I'm trying to get used to the new interface. 2 questions. 1. I can't seem to get the hang of scheduling a scan, would y'all please give me some steps to follow? 2. If Vipre quarantines something, how do I tell Vipre 2016 that I want to allow it? I'm running Windows 7 Pro & Jaws 15 thru 17 latest. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take care. Mike Remember folks, it's tax time! No I just checked and there have been a couple of little changes since the last time I spoke with them. It says progress bar for me. Usually my systems scans are on a schedule so I didn't notice. If I scan a file or folder intentionally I check in antivirus history to see the result. -----Original Message----- From: Mario [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, April 9, 2016 10:43 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [BlindTech] thoughts on the new viper update. Merv, do you find that you need to use the JAWS cursor a lot? if you run a scan on a drive, can you monitor it's progress and results once the scan is finished? if something suspicious is detected, how can it be dealt with? ------- Original Message -------- From: Merv Keck Sent: Saturday, Apr 9, 2016 10:22:14 AM EST To: [email protected] Subject: [BlindTech] thoughts on the new viper update. Hi, I have called and spoken with them down here in Clearwater, Florida. They are not far from Freedom Scientific and their tech support people for the most part are very aware of screen readers and how to give support to the visually impaired. Two of their techs have informed me that the only major benefit of viper 2016 Pro is that because it is largely cloud based it is faster and leaves less of a footprint on your local machine both in space and in resources. They said this will benefit older and slower machines. However if you are running a jam-packed system with plenty of RAM and plenty of HD you won't notice much of a difference if any. I called them because I had received a coupon to upgrade and I was concerned because before when I had other antivirus suites that moved to the cloud they became unusable. I was assured by two techs that this was not going to be an issue that the program itself was not going cloud based like other programs for other companies have done. I use Vipre Internet Security 2016 and I have had no issues with accessibility. Although last night I did go to the support page online to see how to do something and when I got to step nine it said something like look at this picture and configure your computer like the picture in this box. I'm thinking ok who thought that one up? Laughs! I plan to call them Monday and discuss that one with them even though I fixed the issue without the picture in the box. Hope that helps. Chris, what version is it, 2016, 2017 or Pro? I think Pro is cloud based and it applies only for Internet Security for now, that's why I ask. also if you could, give the exact version number. ------- Original Message -------- From: Chris Judd Sent: Friday, Apr 8, 2016 11:48:46 PM EST To: [email protected] Subject: [BlindTech] thoughts on the new viper update. Hey all, I just updated to the new viper that just came out, and for the most part, it is accessible with jaws. It is a new layout, but it is easy to manage, once you get the hang of it. Anyone else have any thoughts? Thanks, Chris _._,_._,_ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
