[JAWS-Users] updating thunderbird

I'm currently running an earlier version of Thunderbird (V31.2.0) email. 
I had it set not to update automatically. I Have since checked the box 
to update automatically in the options menu. But when I close the 
program and reopen it the program does not check for updates. Is there a 
shortcut key in Thunderbird to check for updates?
