Hi John,
I noticed an error here, that was the same with the original post
The file that was mentioned, "IOS", , is incorrect!
The correct file extension is, "ISO".
I wouldn't have mentioned it, but it could lead to some confusion
since IOS ,refers to the Apple operating system, and .iso is a file
extension.

HTH,
Rick Justice

Tomorrow's another day, another way!
and if tomorrow never comes, problem solved!

Subject: [JAWS-Users] UPGRADING TO WINDOWS 10

I got the Windows.ios file from the Microsoft website and placed it on my
desktop.

1. Am I correct that I need to completely DELETE Jaws v17 and all its
shared components first
Your best course of action might be to go onto the Freedom Scientific web
site and download the instructions along with a special file which will
assist you in making the transition.?

2. If I start narrator in Windows seven will Narrator talk me through

the installation process?
Yes, at least for the most part. Narrator in later versions after Windows
8.1, is an excellent voice over tool. However, initial stages of the
conversion to Windows 10 will not talk. It might be advisable to request
direct assistance from the Microsoft Disability Support Desk.

3. When my sighted friend was showing me his windows 10 computer when

narrator started running I heard something about screen reader users

might want to switch to Internet Explorer instead of using Edge I think

it is called. Is this still true?

Yes. As of this time, Microsoft Edge does not talk using Jaws. That is an
ongoing issue which is being worked on by both Freedom and Microsoft. I
believe that a solution will be found shortly. In the meantime, switching
to Microsoft Internet explorer is the correct alternative.

4. Is there anything else I should consider when upgrading that I have

not mentioned?

I recommend that you join the Windows 10 and Jaws e-mail list, at least
temporarily. Jim has quite a few instructional files which you will find
most useful. He stores them on One Drive and will provide direct access on
request. You will find the direct submission link in another message on
this list.

Good luck, Sir. I believe that you will find Windows 10 an excellent
choice.
