When you tabbed, did you come upon the "spell..." button, and then did you press enter before resuming tabbing?

With a draft message open, I press insert-z to go to the virtual cursor, then the applications key. Immediately, the word I deliberately mistyped appeared. I arrowed down the resulting list and found various suggestions. However, when I tabbed, I landed on a button labeled "Spelling..." When I pressed enter, the familiar spell-check dialog came up. Just as the applications key brings up a hybrid, abbreviated menu, it seems it does something similar with its version of spell-checker. But even here, a tab or two takes you to the full version. I hope I've reported that experience accurately. It's late and I'm tired. My question was how come there isn't a change all in the context menu when using the quick keys method, but there is when doing f 7 for spell check. As far as I know, insert plus c is actually supposed to announce the sentence containing the miss spelled words. Or did that change sometime in the past?
