Hi

I don't know if JAWS scripts for vlc media player are available, but if they
are available, they would most likely let control+up arrow and control+down
arrow get through to the application and let the volume be changed. But
using the JAWS default scripts, these keystrokes are used by JAWS to perform
other functions. A work-around when using JAWS with vlc media player is to
press JAWSkey+number row 3 every time immediately before pressing control+up
arrow or control+down arrow. Pressing JAWSkey+number row 3 tells JAWS to
not do anything with the next keystroke, but pass it on to the active
application. This will let you change the volume using these keystrokes
while using JAWS.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] jaws and vlc media player

Hi
I am a new user to jaws17 latest version of jaws. I use vlc to play my media
files. when using jaws hitting control up and down arrow should let me raise
and lower volume but when using jaws it does not it minimizes the program
putting me on the desktop but with NVDA these shortcuts work. how do i get
them to also work the right way with jaws so i don't have to switch back and
forth between jaws and NVDA as much?

Josh
