Steven, surprisingly, the default is to be off. So I am glad to have found
this info as well.
When you are in the "read messages automatically" control to check or
uncheck, if you tab, Jaws gives you information on the control and the
default status.

Hi Steven,

1. While in Outlook 2010, press the Jaws Key plus V to turn on the Quick
Settings for Outlook.
2. In the Search Box type in the word read.
3. Arrow down to the results and place your cursor on Messages
Automatically Read, and press Space-Bar to turn it off.
4. Tab to OK and press Enter.

This should do the trick.

Jim.

Hi friends,

Is there any way to stop JAWS from automatically reading a message when I
open it in Microsoft Outlook 2010, I would like it to just stop on the first
line if possible so that I can read the message with the arrow keys.
