Hello Steven, I am using Word 2013 but if I remember correctly working with auto text in Word 2010 is the same or at least very similar.
To create an auto text you first select the text you want to be included. After selecting the text use Alt with F3 and a dialog box appears. In the name field of the dialog box type whatever text you want for a name but remember that this is the text you will use when inserting your auto text. In other words, if you type the first four letters of the name into a document and then press enter key everything you selected will be inserted into the document. For example, if I select my entire home address, phone number and Email address, I might name it MyHomeAddress. In that example if I type Myho and press enter key my entire home address will be inserted into the document. After the name field are some other controls but you usually don't need to change these unless you are saving to a different template than the normal template, saving to a different gallery than auto text, creating a different category than General, etc. There is a combo box in this dialog box that lets you choose to insert content only, insert content in its own paragraph or insert content on its own page. Once the auto text is created you can insert it by typing the first four letters of the auto text name and pressing enter key. Auto text is a gallery in quick parts. Press Alt followed by N followed by Q to go into quick parts. If you use up arrow key a few times you will find the building blocks organizer that you can open and use to insert or delete entries. Take care. I Used to be able to do it in the older versions with the f3 key and different combinations but not sure if this is the same now or not?
