Hi Adrian,
Thanks for your good explanation. I thought that might be what it did but
wanted to make sure. I'll have to use that key combination from now on
instead of rebooting the whole pc. Sounds like it would be much faster.
Mr. Ed

Hi, Mr. Ed. It restarts JAWS after unloading it from the system. If you
select the option, you can have VFO?FS receive a report each time you resort
to using the command. Unlike the JAWS key+F4 command (without the windows
key), JAWS comes back automatically, usually within a few seconds. I find it
much more effective in getting JAWS back on the straight and narrow after
it's been acting up.

Hi Bob,
Can you explain a little in more detail what this command does? Error dump
command JawsKey + Windows + F4.
Does it just restart Jaws or what exactly does it do?
Just an old mind trying to learn this new command.

Thanks in advance.
Mr. Ed

The start in system tray is exactly that. Jaws will start in the system
tray.
If you apply the setting after it has started you have to wait until the
next time Jaws is started for it to apply.

If you want you can restart Jaws using the error dump command JawsKey +
Windows + F4. This will cause the submit to FS screen to appear after it
starts again but it can be the easiest way to restart Jaws without risking
losing speech feedback.

I know many of you have already installed JAWS 18 and didn't see the need to
comment, but for anyone who has yet to do so, two things struck me as I went
through the process just now. First, unlike with all previous versions, I
wasn't told to reboot. Once I agreed to migrate my JAWS 17 settings to 18,
JAWS 18 came up the way I want it. I thought there must be some oversight,
but I opened a program or two, and everything worked as usual.

Then I discovered that JAWS 18 was included in my alt-tab windows rotation.
My setting has always been to have JAWS in the system tray. So now I did
reboot. When my PC came back up, JAWS 18 was in the system tray, where it
belongs.

So, a very smooth installation process. The only hiccough for me was my
expectation that I'd need to reboot. Sometimes you don't realize that good
news really is good news. The system tray issue is almost too minor to
mention.
