Braille auto-advance mode was improved in JAWS 18 to take account of the number of occupied cells on the braille line in determining how quickly to advance to the next line.
I tested it this morning and it seemed to work well. The default maximum time between advances is 5 seconds, which, for me, wasn't long enough to read a full line on the 80-cell braille display used in my work environment. Increasing it to 7 seconds was more comfortable. Contracted braille was enabled while reading. Of course, after connecting a smaller, 40-cell display I would have to readjust the value, as there doesn't seem to be a way to set it for different display sizes.
