Annette,
Try this:
Reading column lines:
If you use smart navigation with set to tables, down arrow will go down the
current column. right arrow will go to the next column to the right where up
and down should just read that specific column.

If you don't use smart navigation, hold ctrl and alt keys as you use the
arrows up and down to go up or down the current column, left and right go
left or right to the previous or next column.

HTH,
                                        Jorge

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Reading Text Columns in MS-Word

Hello All,

I have to read a MS-Word 2010 document that has been formatted with text
columns. It is driving me crazy that as I move through the document, I am
unable to follow the text. I have to gather specific information throughout
the document, so using insert Down arrow is not ideal to use right now. Are
there commands for navigating text columns? I may resort to reformatting
the document by removing the column setting.

Annette
