Under Microsoft Windows, unlike other systems that I've used, re-installing
software sometimes does correct problems. I don't know why this is the case -
registry entries, perhaps, or updates that aren't installed properly.

In general, MS-Windows is very complex. There are plenty of bugs and plenty of
opportunities for problems to emerge, especially if you're using a screen
reader.

I would definitely recommend restore points, system backups and
re-installation as problem solving methods for Windows systems.
