Alt + N doesn't work.

While Alt + N does bring focus to the notification bar, all JAWS reads at that point is the button caption that is currently selected. It does not read any message or query that might be in the notification bar. Attempting to tab to the text to get JAWS to read it only moves the focus away from the notification bar requiring another Alt + N to get back to it.

Thanks anyway.

Hello there,
Try pressing alt+n. This keystroke should bring focus to the
notification bar in Internet Explorer and allow you to read it.
I hope this helps

Hi all!

One of the more irritating aspects of Microsoft's decision to replace
dialogs with a notification bar in Internet Explorer is that JAWS seems
very reluctant to read the contents of the notification bar. It will
eventually read it, but not until it has read everything else

Does anyone know if there is a way to get JAWS to read the contents of
the notification bar on demand, rather than having to wait for it to be
read?

Thanks!
