Mike, Point taken. But I still think that banks and other websites can and do take control over whether usernames do or don't appear. I'm pretty sure that's the situation in Miriam's case.
For the record, I still have that affiliation credit card with BofA, but I have no love for the institution. That said, if you ever get past Fortress Automated Phone System, the tech support people are terrific and, in my experience, comfortable talking accessibility. I hope anyone sitting on the fence takes to heart your decision not to allow your browser to retain personal data. However, just for that reason, I don't have my browsing history deleted each time I exit my browser because all any snooper would find is a list of the websites I visited. IE11 will autocomplete URLs (website addresses), if you want it to. It may even complete passwords, as Firefox offers to do. But I think the username on a bank website is different. It isn't filled in by IE, but by the website. For example, the bank that has one of my credit cards gives me the choice of being recognized when I visit the website or leaving it to me to fill in my username every time. Another bank website forces me to enter the username every time, which I personally think is a good idea with sensitive matters. Miriam, see what happens the next time you try to log in. If your previous username appears again, how about typing the password and seeing if you're logged in? Otherwise, it may be worth a call to the bank's tech support people. I ran into a similar problem with Bank of America a month or two ago. I'm still mystified why I suddenly had the problem, and I'm equally puzzled how it got resolved. When I went there innitially today, the old user name was there. I went back and deleted it, and put in my new user name. I E then asked if I wanted to save it and I said, "yes", so perhaps the new one is saved. But if not, I'll use your directions.
