Hi Scorpio,
First of all, thanks for your answer. When I press Windows key plus a,
that gives me a notification from Windows Defender, which is probably
the most recent notification from the Notification pannel and that may
be what this is when I hear the notification sound from Windows.
I'll keep using this when the alert sound comes up and see what gives.
Thank you again.

Hi Lynn,
Is it possible that these are alerts in your notifications panel?
If so, press Windows key+A to take you to the action center, at which
point you'll be able to tab around to the different parts of the
window to examine the notification messages.
Good luck.
Scorpio

You're right. Pressing Windows plus v doesn't produce any description.
Thanks.

Hi,
When you hear this tone, press Windows+V to find out if JAWS reads
anything.
Technical: if it's what I think it is, then VFO did not fix toast
reading
bug from prior builds.
Cheers,

From time to time, I get a little musical tone with Windows 10 and
have no
idea what I'm being told.
Using Jaws 18, how can I know what message is being sent? Thanks.
