Hi All,
XP Home with SP2 is set here to show when updates are ready to be
installed in the sys tray. I know that Microsoft just released
several critical ones, but there was nothing listed in the sys tray.
I'm all set now since I went to the MS Update page and downloaded and
installed them manually, but how long should it take for the
notification to show up in the sys tray? The Update page said updates
are listed as automatic for my machine, so it seems that my settings
didn't get changed accidentally. I'm pretty sure this isn't the first
time that no notification was given when I knew that MS had released
critical ones.
Thanks,
Margaret

You can't remove it and probably don't want to. It hurts nothing by
being
there and it serves as a reminder. As long as you've downloaded
updates,
that reminder's going to stay there until you either discard them or
install
them.

Subject: [jaws-users] Windows XP Home Updates
I have Windows Updates set to stay in my System Tray and I will deal
with
them manually since I am . on slow dial-up and I wish to decide what
is
necessary and what is not.
I do not wish to install any of these updates today.
I am told,
"Updates are ready for your computer. Click here to install.."
How can I cancel this and remove it from my System Tray?
I find Cancel on the tab but in no way does evoking this wherever it
appears
on the tab, cause this to leave my System Tray.
Thanks for your help in removing this entirely from my System Tray,
since I
do not wish to install any of these updates today.
